I can’t be arsed to get excited about the coming Christmas holidays. It comes and it goes. So there.

It is just no different than other days. Just that we have a few days of rest from the inane shopping for the once-a-year compulsory “spirit of giving”. It bears no fruit in the mind when it’s persumably 2000-odd years ago, some boy wonder was born to a said virgin. Do this today, do you think you can start another religion by telling people that you don’t know how the hell you got yourself preggers and some fella with a pair of wings came to tell you it’s the son of god?

Can I have fries with that?

I’m extremely cynical, yes. What else is new?

Why won’t you too if you have seen the evils that church-goers do behind the closed doors of their minds? If indeed God can really see everything that you do, why are so many “god-fearing” [insert religion here] followers treat him like Santa Claus? Be good once a year: drinking less; fast, but gorge yourself stupid during break fast; whatever. If religion be opium of the masses, then, a hell lot of people are being sucked in. There’s just too many people who go to church to look for girlfriends/boyfriends, fast because their names had this “bin” or “binti” word. Do just for the sake of doing or doing for another intention entirely.

Plenty of men still believe that you need to bleed in order to be a “proper” virgin too anyways. So, plenty of us can’t be the next Mary. Sorry to break this to ya. Here, have a fry.

I may be an atheist for many years now, but I still believe in the fundamental good in human beings. As always, the same saying goes: they vary in degrees. Like curry from different restaurants, they may have the same ingredients, just in different measures. :P

If indeed that heaven and hell exist and come judgement day, I still do not believe that I would be sent to burn in hell for whatever I have done in my life thus far.

I may not be Mother Teresa whenever beggers and the disabled disrupted my already dirt-cheap roadside meals, but surely there’re plenty of registered charities, organisations and NGO’s collecting donations from people who are willing to part with their money? I may not be the model citizen during election because I didn’t cast a vote, but surely, by so doing, it’s a statement on the sad fact that I felt no candidate deserved the one vote apart from assumption of my laziness of not registering? I may not the best daughter, but damn, I think I deserve some commendation already for not eloping with that idiot I was so in love with because I thought I needed parental blessings. I may not be the friendliest person in a party, but really, is it a problem when I don’t set fire to the place and pee on your face? But this is not the point.

The point is I’m still not evil enough to be burning in hell.

Only those with a lot of things to repent and have fears of being cast in the depths of hell need to go confessions and spiritual cleansings or whatever they do there in flocks and herds. Of course, I meant those “religious” ones who kept harping on what other people should do with their lives, what god to believe in, what names you should use to be a “true believer” instead of just following the good things in holy books.
